hi.
my name is michael moore and i am a master's student at
georgetown university's program in communication, culture &
technology.
in my academic life, i study new media from an
interdisciplinary stance. in particular, much of my
research looks at video games as a cultural practice.
recently i have looked at the ways in which digital
production encourages game players to develop new methods
of reading and writing -- new literacies -- that often
clash with conventional print literacy. building on this
research, i am interested in the ways that games and play
can transform academic production. you can find a few of my
own experiments with non-standard academic work here.
the rest of this site features much of my academic work
from georgetown along with the notes and brainstorming that
made it possible. feel free to look around. the menu on
your right should help you navigate.
